The 2001 NICE Conference was held at the Cobb Galleria from July 23-25, 2001, and many members of the Georgia Co-op Council had a part in hosting the event. In addition, several attendees of the youth conference were present and were able to enjoy the workshops.
Bill Thomas, Craig Scroggs, and Gale Cutler were all busy during the weekend before the conference started and then during the actual meeting time. A pre-planning meeting was held from July 20-22 for youth leaders. This meeting was to provide some orientation time for the leaders who would be working with the 160 or so youth scholars who would be coming into town. A series of team building exercises and group discussions allowed the group to get to know one another as well as to become familiar with the activities that would ensue during the conference. Gale and Craig participated in the pre-planning and actual conference activities. Bill worked tirelessly on the program and documenting the activities throughout the week. As official photographer and powerpoint guru, he was always seen with his digital camera or sitting behind a computer. Bill put together several powerpoint shows during the week that showcased all of the activities going on during the convention.
Our youth scholars from Georgia, Seth Turner, Blake Coleman, and Laci Banks represented the State in a manner in which we could all be proud. Seth was elected to come back to the 2002 Conference in Chicago as a youth leader. Only 10 youth from the attendees are selected and Seth will be a wonderful leader next year.

Blake helps make a

The 2002 NICE Conference will be held in Chicago, IL, from August 5-7. We hope that Georgia will be well represented during this conference.
