2002 Young Couples Conference

The 2002 conference was held in Myrtle Beach, SC, from Nov. 1-3, 2002.  43 couples from Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina along with numerous sponsors attended the meeting.  The couples heard presentations from several different co-ops including; Farm Credit Service, Electric Co-ops, Telephone Co-ops, Staplcotn, Goldkist, Southern States, Dairy Farmers of America, and Maryland/Virginia Milk Producers.  

The weekend started at the registration desk where each couple received their information about the weekend.   Friday night started with a wonderful seafood buffet dinner and then some get acquainted games.  Saturday morning was spent learning about the basics of a cooperative and then hearing from the various co-ops who were there.  Saturday afternoon allowed some free time and then Saturday night was spent eating out and going to the Alabama Theater for their annual Christmas show.  Sunday morning started with a devotion from a local Pastor.  The couples were then asked to get into groups and make decisions much like a real Board of Directors would have to do.  Evaluations, door prizes, and a closing pictorial presentation finished up the event.  From all indications, the event was enjoyed by all who attended.
