Guidelines for Manuscript Submission
Cover Page.
For refereed manuscripts, the Journal uses a system of double-blind
reviews. All manuscripts should have a cover page attached with the name
of the author(s), abstract of 100-150 words, up to 8 key words or short phrases,
acknowledgments, and authors' titles and institutional affiliation. Inside
pages and materials subject to review should not identify the author(s).
Mathematical Notations.
Use standard typeface to maximum extent possible. Overuse of mathematical
symbols limits readership and is costly to typeset. Where such notation is
essential, use separate characters for superscripts and subscripts. Avoid
capital letters in superscripts and subscripts. Use asterisks, primes, and
small English letter subscripts as substitutes for overbars, tildes, carets,
and the like.
Footnotes.
Manually insert superscript numbers within the text to denote footnotes,
numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript. Do not use software
footnote/endnote feature. Combine all footnotes on a separate page immediately
following the manuscript text. Do not place footnotes at bottoms of
manuscript pages. (Notes should be explanatory, not for citations or directives
to other literature. Incorporate reference citations directly into the text.)
References/Text Citations.
Place all references, alphabetized by author, in a list at the end of the
paper entitled "References." Include only cited works. For within-text citations
(either parenthetical or as part of narrative), spell out up to 3 author
last names; use first author's name followed by "et al." for works with 4
or more authors. Include the publication year only if you have used more
than one work by the same author(s). When citing a direct quotation, be sure
to include page number(s) from the author's work.
Tables.
Each table should be typed on a separate page, inserted at the end of the
manuscript following the References section. Use asterisks for statistical
significance levels, and small English letters (not numbers) for table footnotes.
Copies.
Send 3 good quality copies of all written material subject to review. Upon
acceptance, author(s) will be asked to submit a disk copy of the manuscript
in WordPerfect or ASCII.
Page Charges.
Major support for this Journal comes from page charges of $65 per
printed page, payable by the supporting institution or granting agency. Payment
does not affect acceptance, scheduling, or form of publication. Instructions
for payment will accompany letter of acceptance.
Copyright.
The JAB is copyrighted. Acceptance of a manuscript for JAB
publication gives the Agricultural Economics Association of Georgia the right
to publish and copyright the material. Re-publication elsewhere is contingent
upon written permission of the Association.
Mailing.
Send manuscripts via first-class mail to: Luanne Lohr, Editor, JAB,
Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, 314 Conner Hall, University
