My full name is Dr. Swagata Banerjee. The correct pronunciation of my first name is "Shagoto" or "Shah-goto" with the second "h" remaining silent and the "t" having a soft sound like "t'aime" in French! But most people in the US know me by the name "Ban,"which obviously is derived from my last name. That's why these days I insert "Ban" between my first and last names, well, thanks to NSAI-Nashville, TN, since they introduced it to me that way.
My native language is Bengali, or Bangla, and in that language my first name means "Welcome!" To know a simple history behind my name, click here.
I hail from India. I was born at 4:14 a.m. on Friday, the 20th of March, 1964 in Calcutta, renamed Kolkata, India.
So, according to Western astrology, I am a Pisces.
